The hike

We start our hike on the ridge of the mountain between Petra and Kalloni, in the north of the island. The track takes us through pine forests with stunning views to the sea below and the mountains around.

We leave the main track and walk on small paths through a fairy tale forest down to a hidden waterfall. It is a spectacular waterfall in the rainy season, but definitively also an idyllic place to be in summer.

We continue the historically important ruin village of Klapados, the site of the last battle between the Greeks and the Turks.

After a nice break we hike on lovely tracks high above sea level with stunning view towards the mountain village of Lafionas. Here we have the option to extend the hike (4km): we walk around Mount Roudi and visit one of the oldest chapels on the island, Agios Alexandros with the sarcophagus of the saint.

In Lafionas we can sit down in one of the Kafenions and enjoy the view to the bay of Petra.

Through old olive fields we hike down to the village of Petra. A stroll through the beautiful old streets down to the Platia for a coffee or ouzo with sea view completes our day. We will take you then to the starting point.
