Participants will be treated as honoured guests whilst learning and studying the principles and method of 6th century mosaics as seen in Ravenna. They will create two small panels using the finest Venetian tesserae. All instruction is suitable for absolute beginners as well as accomplished mosaicists.

The course is offered as part of the Ikonothea project, an idea supported by the village council to help the village of Vatoussa in these days of austerity. By bringing visitors to participate in workshops by internationally acclaimed teachers the programmes help maintain the small, but essential local businesses. The villagers delight in seeing the production of works that relate to the arts and crafts of Byzantine culture. Other course are planned to encourage reflection on the wonders of our environment and our place within it.
